When the inside of a tooth, the so-called dental nerve becomes inflamed, a root canal treatment can often save the tooth. The goal of endodontics is to preserve natural teeth long-term despite deep damage, and to do so as painlessly, precisely, and sustainably as possible.
At our dental practice in Berlin-Treptow, we use modern technology such as digital imaging for exceptional precision in your treatments. This allows even the finest root canals to be reliably cleaned and sealed tightly against bacteria, ensuring safe treatment with the best chances of success.
If inflammation at the tip of the root persists despite root canal treatment, the root tip can be surgically removed. In this procedure, inflamed tissue in the surrounding area is also removed. The treatment is performed under local anesthesia and aims to preserve the tooth.
For inflammation or injury of the dental nerve, the root canal system is carefully cleaned, disinfected, and sealed with a biocompatible material, allowing the tooth to be preserved long-term. If necessary, the tooth is then crowned to provide stability.
If a previous root canal treatment was not successful or new symptoms arise, retreatment can help. In this process, the canal system is cleaned again and sealed tightly against bacteria, with great expertise and precision.
If inflammation at the root tip does not subside despite root canal treatment, an apicoectomy may be necessary. We surgically remove the inflamed root tip and surrounding tissue – precisely, gently, and with the goal of preserving the tooth.
